Lift Up Contra Costa is launching our first-ever Leadership Lab. The Leadership Lab is a hands-on leadership program designed to help you understand how decisions are made in your community—and how to be part of shaping them.

Over the course of the program, we’ll break down how local and county government actually works, from city councils to boards and commissions, and learn who represents you and how to engage with them. We’ll walk through the real differences among policies, ordinances, and budgets so you can understand how change happens—and where you can step in.

You’ll also build practical skills, including how to give public comment, advocate for issues you care about, and organize with others to create impact. Through Organizing 101, you’ll learn how campaigns are built, how power works, and how everyday people come together to win change.

Along the way, you’ll hear directly from community organizations working on housing, immigration, budget justice, and more—and get connected to opportunities to plug in based on what matters most to you.

By the end of the program, you won’t just understand the system—you’ll have the tools, confidence, and connections to take action, whether that’s showing up to a meeting, joining a campaign, or stepping into a leadership role in your community.
